Ms. Afshan Khan was admitted to the New York State Bar in February 2013 and the Southern District of New York in May 2014. She was also admitted to the Illinois State Bar in May 2016. Ms. Khan received her law degree at Pace University School of Law in White Plains, NY where she specialized in Immigration Law and International Human Rights. During her legal studies, she served as a Research Assistant and as a Student Attorney at the Immigration Justice Clinic where she worked directly with Adjustment of Status and Asylum clients facing deportation proceedings. After law school, Ms. Khan worked with several law firms assisting with their immigration practices. Additionally, Ms. Khan worked at non-profit housing organizations, where she worked with clients discriminated against in trying to get housing and clients facing mortgage foreclosure.
Ms. Khan exclusively practices Immigration Law in Rockford and the suburbs of Chicago, IL as well as Bronx, NY. As an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (“AILA”), Ms. Khan’s immigration practice includes family-based petitions, non-immigrant visas, deportation defense, waivers and naturalizations. She has worked with individuals from Mexico and Central America, Caribbean, South America, South Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe. Ms. Khan is fluent in Urdu, and she speaks Spanish. She has also worked on deferred action cases, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”).
